EQUIPMENT USED
Equipment used during this study
Great equipment is no substitute for poor technique.
While I am fortunate to have access to the best that Canon have to offer I have spent a great deal of time learning how to use it. it is often said that the best camera is the one you have with you which for a lot of people is the camera on their mobile phone however I personally prefer to use a full size camera with proper lenses rather than the digitally enhanced algorithm version on my iPhone. This is partly because I can make a better image but importantly because I enjoy the process of making images with a proper camera.

While the equipment listed below is the main kit I have access to I have also been taught to use both medium and large format cameras shooting both traditional film or polaroid.

Editing of my images is normally done in Lightroom and occasionally Photoshop however I try to avoid excessive image manipulation in Photoshop as I feel it often leads to images that are more focused on style than on content.

When initially learning how to use the cameras I was taught to do as much as possible in camera and while the same general effects can be created in photoshop I feel my images produced in a more natural organic way have a quality that bette suits what I am trying to do. I would rather experiment with aperture, ISO and shutter speed to create the image I want than rely upon a generic post production filter.
