Annie Leibovitz
Meet the Photographer
Annie Leibovitz is probably one of my favourite photographers ever, and because of that it was really important to me for her to be included in the project. One of the things that makes her important and stand out is that her celebrity portraits often depict them in intimate settings and poses.
A great example of this is in one of her most famous works, a portrait of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, it was taken the day Lennon was shot and is the last photo ever taken of the music legend. Another thing that I admire about Leibovitz is the fact that she was the first women to ever have an exhibit in the National Portrait gallery in Washington D.C.
What I emulated from Annie was the set up of her vanity fair images. By seating my subjects in a slightly formal manner it allowed the seriousness of my topic to be conveyed.
