FINAL BOOK DESIGN
It was originally my intention to produce a series of very large scale images of A0 size which incorporated the stories of the people I talked to in them and have these mounted, laminated and displayed around the school so that pupils could look at and read them at their leisure. My thinking behind this was to create something that shone a light on the subject of mental health and did so in a way that would show the viewer that they are not alone or the only one who had dark thoughts and fears. It was my hope that by doing so the whole school could benefit by starting an open conversation about mental health, a subject that is sadly now overshadowed by more fashionable concerns.

In the end however it was decided that producing a book of stories and images was more appropriate use of the 15 hours of exam time.

As such I have produced a A3 square book that is to be hand made with black leather covers and containing a collection of life stories by people who have faced and survived mental health issues and in particular depression. The pages of this book are being digitally printed out side of school and assembled by a book binder.

As well as a hard copy of the book it is my hope that the digital version of the book can be made available to all members of the school so that they may read the accounts and look at the book in the privacy of their own homes on any device while they are away from public scrutiny and more able to read and react in an authentic way rather than feel in any way under pressure from their friends and peer group to be flippant and uncaring about this very serious and important subject.

The flip book below is an accurate record of the book that is in print and uses exactly the same file as will be sent to the printers for production with the only modification being the cropping of the pages in the digital flip version as printers crop marks are not required in digital form.
The flip book below is a faithful representation of the book that is being printed. With the exception of printers crop marks this is the same file as sent to print and completed during the exam.
